When Did You First Realize You Were Black? #BlackHistoryMonth Day 1

howtobeblack:

Throughout Black History Month (and beyond), we’ll be focusing on questions of identity. For day one, we’re asking a question also asked in How To Be Black: when did you first realize you were black? And if you’re not black, we’re still interested! When did you first realize you were [insert here]?

Submit your story (especially in video), and check out what The Black Panel said in the book.

I’m not black. Why would I want a book called How To Be Black? Is this for me?

howtobeblack:

We all have experienced some gap between who we are and who the world expects us to be. This book explores that from the perspective of one articulate, hilarious black man, but the story is one with which almost anyone can identify.

Baratunde also addressed this topic this during a video chat with our Street Team—check out the video below.

Long-time reader, and good friend of mine, “Fishingrod” asked me for my predictions for the Florida Republican Primary that’s coming up tomorrow (Tuesday).

In fact, I hadn’t even thought to write about it, because it’s hardly a “prediction”, as the situation has stabilized at this point, but let me talk about the WHY rather than the WHAT.

The order tomorrow is going to be Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, Paul.

One of the extremely annoying things about politics is the convenient cycle of rights.

For instance.. If the federal government decides something, and a politician doesn’t like it, he or she says “You should leave that right to the states! :/”.

If a particular state does something that a politician doesn’t like, he or she says “You should leave that right to the family! :/” (or individual)…

This season’s premiere episode of Jersey Shore was only interesting for one reason.. MTV decided to surprise the cast by bringing the people they care about together for a surprise party.

That would have been all well & good, except for Nicole’s various sexual hookups with guys and girls that were invited to the same party. :D

I’m not seeing it anymore. I feel like the 2012 Republican nomination process has provided the blueprint / roadmap for the reelection of our current President, Barack Obama.

Today, the Republicans in New Hampshire are going to make their decision about which candidate they’d like to see attempt to defeat President Barack Obama in the 2012 general election.

Here’s how I think it will turn out:

Romney
Huntsman
Paul
Santorum
Gingrich
Perry
Cain
Bachmann

Back in the day, when I used to play the relationship game, I had a few girlfriends..

simultaneously..

I didn’t think anything of it at the time. It’s easy to have multiple girlfriends by not giving them what they want…

In reality, half of the people aren’t going to believe the sexual harassment allegations right off the bat, and then half of the people that believe it aren’t going to care.

The entire issue comes down to burden of proof.

Reader Eryka asked me if, in honor of her birthday, I could write something about women that is *NOT* crazy. I will attempt to do so right now, however, I won’t know until the end of this post whether I succeeded or not. o_O
